Why do we need salvation?

Why do we need salvation?

We must first recognize where we stand in relation to God in order to comprehend our need for redemption. In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul states that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23) and that no one is righteous (Romans 3:10). God’s anger and judgment are due to the fact that we are all sinners. We shall [perish for all eternity] in a region called hell if nothing changes regarding our spiritual state (Matthew 14:32; Revelation 21:8). Fortunately, there is excellent news! But let’s look at the bad news first.

Spiritually Blind

It is simply untrue for some people to claim that God’s judgment is harsh or even unjust. Because God is good forever, His judgment is also good (Psalm 106:1). He declares what is appropriate and inappropriate. We are spiritually blind without salvation, so we must have it (2 Corinthians 4:3–4). To perceive and comprehend the holiness and glory of God, our spiritual eyes must be enlightened (Acts 9:18; Ephesians 1:18). They also need to be opened because, according to 1 Peter 1:16, God has called us to be holy as He is.

Spiritually Dead

The Bible also states that because of our sin, we are spiritually dead: “For the wages of sin is death.” “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins that you once walked, following the course of this world,” says Romans 6:23 (Ephesians 2:1-2). To actually live the way God meant for us to live, we must be saved. A person who is spiritually dead cannot possibly know God or [have faith in His Word].

Spiritually Lost

We are likewise lost without salvation. There is a huge hole in our lives that we are unable to fill on our own; we are directionless and purposeless. According to Isaiah 53:6, all of us have wandered, just like sheep. We are in great need of a Shepherd to lead and guard us.

The Good News

There is salvation in Jesus Christ and in Him alone: “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12)! In Christ, the blind can see (Luke 4:18), the dead can live (John 11:25), and the lost are found (Luke 19:10). Jesus paid the price for our sins with His blood when He died on the cross. But He did not stay dead! He rose again, defeating the power of sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:55-57). Yes, we are all sinners, but we have a Savior! The Bible is clear that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Have you called upon the name of Jesus in faith? Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2)!
