Being a child

Everybody knows what it means to be a child—that is, to have a mother and a father. We are entirely dependent on our parents when we are infants and toddlers—they must love us, feed us, teach us, and assist us in developing into responsible individuals.

We are all God’s offspring because God created us all. Unfortunately, though, sin has severed our bonds with the Father because of our collective rebellion. In order to mend the father-child bond, God is always pleading with his children to come back to Him.

John 3:3

declares, “You cannot enter the kingdom of heaven unless you are born again.” Jesus stated this to Nicodemus, and Nicodemus wondered right away, how can I be born again? Is it possible for me to resurrect in my mother’s womb? No, Jesus was speaking of a spiritual birth, of being adopted into God’s spiritual family, and of being a child of God.

God made considerable efforts to ensure that everyone on the planet might experience a new birth.

Jesus Christ made this possible

Jesus Christ came to earth [with the express intent of dying on a cross], having left his residence in heaven. According to what the Bible says, “everyone has sinned,” revolted against God, and will die as a result. We also discover that we are eligible for forgiveness if a sinless person bears the penalty in our place. Jesus fulfilled this very act by bearing our penalty on our behalf.

“For God made Christ, Who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ,” reads 2 Corinthians 5:21.

How do I become a child of God?

All those who acknowledge and embrace the idea that Jesus Christ died on the cross in order to atone for their sins, and thereafter seek God’s pardon, will be welcomed into his family.

According to John 1:12–13, “But He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of man, but of God, to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name.”
