How do I pray according to the will of God?

Hands pray on bible

The passage “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” is found in 1 John 5:14 of the Bible. But how can I be sure that my prayers are in line with God’s will?

The only thing left for the disciples of Jesus to ask after witnessing how intently He interacted with His Father in prayer was, “Lord, teach us how to pray” (Luke 11:1). That was an excellent question, in Jesus’ opinion. Thus, your query is also a valid one! Continue reading to see how Jesus taught His disciples the prayer that is commonly referred to as “The Lord’s Prayer,” or the “Our Father.” You can also study teachings about prayer from Jesus in Matthew 6:5–13. Permit me to highlight a few of the items we perused there:

  1. Be sincere in your prayers. At that time, some people demonstrated their spirituality by participating in public prayer. Avoid doing that. Have private conversations with your heavenly Father. It just implies that you should never pray in order to influence other people, not that you shouldn’t participate in prayer gatherings with others.
  2. Have a normal conversation with your father. You don’t have to wow God with your exquisite prayer language. You have a father. He cherishes you. And He is aware of your innermost thoughts. As you would with your earthly father, converse with Him.
  3. However, never forget that your heavenly father is this! So begin by giving Him praise: Father, everything revolves around Your name, Your Kingdom, and Your will that must be carried out.
  4. After that, you can bring your everyday needs to Him. You can ask anything you want; he’s interested in you. Hebrews 4:16, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need,” is a verse that I really like. It is a gracious throne! Greetings from the throne.
  5. We also have to beg for pardon. Ask God for specific forgiveness and the power of the Holy Spirit to help you avoid committing these sins.
  6. While praying is challenging, obeying is even more so! Because the Father tells us: You must also [forgive others] in order for Me to gladly forgive you. That is the Father’s unadulterated love for you. Because the devil can enter our lives and entice us when we fail to forgive. For this reason, the prayer asks God to “deliver us from the evil one, and lead us not into temptation.”
  7. Some translations of the Bible’s original Greek language conclude the petition with praise to the Father, saying, “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” And for us, that is a fitting way to conclude our time spent in prayer with our Father.

In your prayers, feel free to express yourself. God will not judge you if a particular prayer is not done in accordance with His will. But He will say “No” in response. Alternatively, [‘Not yet’]. It’s not that He’s upset; rather, it’s just that He knows what’s best for you and what fits best with His intentions for your life. So don’t be alarmed and feel free to approach our heavenly Father’s throne. It is a gracious throne. for you as well!
