Is marriage still holy when neither is a virgin?

Twee ringen op de grond

Sex is a beautiful creation of God, and it should be experienced as He intended—that is, within the confines of marriage. However, what happens if one or both parties has engaged in immoral behavior before to marriage?

In the event that the prospective couple really regrets their previous transgressions, their union is as sacred as a union between two virgins. Here, Paul’s observations from 1 Corinthians 6:9–11 are beneficial:

Because you are aware that the wicked will not inherit God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled: the kingdom of God will not belong to sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, males who practice homosexuality, thieves, selfish people, drunkards, revilers, or swindlers. And some of you were like that. But in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of our God’s Spirit, you were washed, sanctified, and justified.

There is cleansing and forgiveness

Paul claims that some of the Corinthians were sexually immoral in verse 11. However, they have been cleansed, sanctified, and justified in Christ (brought right with God). Therefore, there is cleansing and [pardon] in Christ, regardless of the sexual sins that have been done in the past. However, the fact that God has pardoned sin and always will not serve as an excuse for more wrongdoing. Recall what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 6:18:”Leave immoral sexual behavior.”
