How can I experience peace?

Peace

The world is not at all calm. There’s plenty of conflict and strife instead of peace. Since we know Jesus to be our Savior and King, Christians don’t need to be terrified of any of this.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace

Only under a righteous reign is peace possible. “Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from this time forth and forevermore” (Isaiah 9:7) is the only way that people can thrive if they submit to Jesus as the Prince of Peace. The only Ruler who has the power to unite humanity under his authority is Jesus.

Jesus is our example and guide

Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus demonstrated both [the nature of God] (Hebrews 1:1–3) and [the outward manifestation of His Kingdom] (John 10:32). He came to lead our feet along the peaceful path. Luke 1:79

Entrust yourself to God

Now, if you submit to God’s will, you can live in peace. God and you are at peace because of Jesus, who paid your obligations to God by dying on the cross (Isaiah 53:5). “However, He granted the right to become God’s children to everyone who accepted Him and trusted in His name” (John 1:12). The children of God voluntarily submit to His just rule. Individuals who reject His rule are akin to the turbulent ocean that never stops. “My God declares that there is no peace for the wicked” (Isaiah 57:20-21). Despite their best efforts, those individuals will never be able to experience true, permanent peace apart from Jesus.

God gives strength

A person who fully surrenders to the Lord is powerful against the adversary’s attempts to drive that person away from God and incite rebellion against the Lord (1 Peter 5:8). Our ability to withstand the devil is provided by the Holy Spirit, allowing us to continue in God’s peace. According to Romans 8:6, “to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”

God’s peace is not dependent of our circumstances

Since God’s peace is beyond our comprehension, it cannot be rationally described (Philippians 4:7). We can feel this peace even in the midst of hardship since it is not reliant on our circumstances: “I have said these things to you, that you may have peace in Me.” In this life, hardships will arise. However, be encouraged; I have triumphed over the world (John 16:33).

God gives peace amidst turmoil

Let us pay attention to the signs of the times, as God’s Word commands us to do. We saw the events that Jesus predicted: persecution, famines, earthquakes, wars, and riots (Matthew 24, Luke 21). People will pass out from horror and dread of what is about to happen to the earth (Luke 21:25-26). Jesus, however, makes a peace pledge to us: “I give you my peace; I leave you in peace. I offer you not as the world gives. John 14:27 states, “Let not your hearts be afraid, nor let them be troubled.” We shall find serenity in the middle of all of this chaos if we continue to give ourselves entirely to Him. That is really a blessing!
