God shows His power

How should we serve God?

Then Abednego, Meshach, and Shadrach emerged from the flames. When the governors, satraps, prefects, and advisors to the king convened, they discovered that the fire had no effect whatsoever on the men’s corpses. Daniel 3:26–27

Abednego, Meshach, and Shadrach do not submit to the golden image of King Nebuchadnezzar. Thus, they are thrown into the blazing furnace; before the men are thrown in, the king even gives the order to heat it up to seven times its normal temperature. The intensity of the flames kills the soldiers who toss them in. The king is shocked to learn that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are not killed by burning at all! He observes them moving freely over the flames, accompanied by a fourth being who appears to be “a son of the gods.”

It turns out that not even their garments or hair have been burnt when the monarch calls the men to emerge from the flames. There’s only one potential outcome: they’ve been miraculously delivered by God. In response to the king’s earlier question, “Who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” this is God’s reply. Now that everyone is in attendance, it is evident that “the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego” is capable of doing just that. He has demonstrated both His omnipotence and His loyalty to His servants.

How great is our God! So don’t you agree?
