God gives the Holy Spirit

“And Peter addressed them, saying, ‘Repent and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for the forgiveness of your sins, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.'” Acts 2:38

The Holy Spirit has several gifts, according to the Bible. First of all, though, the gift of the Holy Spirit Himself is offered! You will receive the Holy Spirit if you turn from your sins, repent, and accept Jesus’ gift of forgiveness.

Neither a “experience” in the faith nor a privilege reserved for a select few super-believers are necessary for receiving the Holy Spirit. You will receive the Spirit in your heart as soon as you have faith. In Romans 8:9, the apostle Paul states unequivocally that “whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him.”

Paul defines what it means to have the Spirit in the same chapter. It means living in accordance with the Spirit, which is to say, in accordance with God’s desire, and focusing your thoughts on the things of the Spirit rather than just earthly matters. He purges sin from you and changes your heart. Furthermore, according to Romans 8:11, “He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you,” the Holy Spirit assures you of eternal life for both your soul and your body.

Does the Holy Spirit dwell in you?
