Does reincarnation exist?

Man op rots

Reincarnation is not a real thing. Hebrews 9:27 states, “…it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,” which resolves the matter.

Eternal soul instead of reincarnation

Reincarnation is associated with worldviews and religions that hold that everything revolves around circles. The world is not actually moving anywhere, and nothing ever truly changes. What once was, is, and always will be. The universe and life are seen entirely differently in the Bible. In addition to creating the world, God also made man in His likeness. God brought His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to this earth to suffer and die in order to atone for our sins despite man’s rebellion against Him. Each and every man possesses an everlasting soul that holds immeasurable value. Jesus Christ [will return to this earth to judge] both the living and the dead at some point.

All the dead in Christ shall rise

Thus, from origin (creation) to end (the second coming of Jesus Christ), the Bible presents a coherent picture. The Bible makes it abundantly evident that the dead will rise at the end (see, for example, 1 Corinthians 15:12–24). Reincarnation and this cannot be reconciled. For what would be resurrected from the dead if a person’s soul has already been reincarnated in another human? However, when you consider that the biblical doctrine holds that each and every person has a distinct soul and must answer to God, it all becomes very clear.

A healthy understanding of human nature is also aided by the teachings on the resurrection of the dead. Not only our spirits, but ourselves. Our physical selves play a vital role in our identity. As a result, body and soul will be unified, albeit with a far more magnificent body than the one we currently have (see 1 Corinthians 15:35-49).

Live your life for Jesus Christ

We only get one life to live. What determines [where we shall spend eternity] is this life. We have the chance to produce fruit during this life that will last an eternity. Our lives have great significance because of the biblical teaching that “it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Live it to the fullest, offering thanks to God for His presence and for imparting [the good news of sinners’ salvation] by Jesus Christ.
